2022 Hottest 7s In The World Launched

After a successful return for the competition in 2021, the Hottest 7s in the World will again take place in early October 2022. The tournament will again offer competing teams a competitive and fun weekend with great prize money on offer. For the fans, we will showcase the party atmosphere and some high quality rugby 7s action across the weekend.

The 2022 event will see the introduction of Junior divisions for U12s Mixed as well as both boys and girls divisions in the Under 14s and Under 16s age divisions. These junior divisions will compete across Friday afternoon and the weekend.

The Hottest 7s tournament will now have the following divisions:

Main Divisions:

Open Men's (18 years old and above)

Open Women's (18 years old and above)

Youth Boys (born 2004 and 2005)

Youth Girls (born 2004 and 2005)

Junior Divisions:

Under 16s Boys (born 2006 and 2007)

Under 16s Girls (born 2006 and 2007)

Under 14s Boys (born 2008 and 2009)

Under 14s Girls (born 2008 and 2009)

Under 12s Mixed (born 2010 and 2011)

7s Rugby is a Commonwealth Games and Olympic sport that continues to grow in participation numbers across the World. The Hottest 7s tournament continues to grow with men's and women's teams from around Australia and the World expected to attend now that the that border rules have relaxed.

NT Rugby CEO, Shane Sullivan stated "With the current state of play for international travel into Darwin, we are excited to welcome back the powerhouse teams from New Zealand, Fiji and Asia. 2021 saw a great tournament on and off the field, after the COVID-cancelled 2020 event, with some fantastic teams from across Queensland and the NT competing. We now welcome the overseas teams back and look forward to them taking the tournament back to the pre-COVID heights."
