The opening round of 2025 delivered in spades with tries aplenty at NTRU Skyring Rugby Park.

In the Men's XXXX A-Grade competition, defending premiers South Darwin ground out a 17-12 win over Darwin Dragons with Kanae Gimini's double proving the difference.

University Pirates also struck gold early, racking up nine tries to one in a 53-5 win over Swampdogs, while James Cardwell's hat-trick ensured Casuarina took full points from their 36-10 victory over Palmerston Crocs.

In the women's and Men's B-Grade competitions, Palmerston and University romped to bonus point wins over Casuarina and Swampdogs respectively.

Daileyne Doyle (Palmerston) and Erica Stevenson (University) both scored doubles while Manu Carter (Palmerston) also bagged a brace.

Meanwhile, Darwin Dragons launched their 2025 U17 Boys season in style with a 49-0 win over Swampdogs spearheaded by Luan Oberholzer's hat-trick.
