THE HOTTEST 7s ARE BACK IN 2021 AFTER THE 2020 COVID LOCKDOWN
Northern Territory Rugby Union will host the 2021 Hottest 7s in the World in 2021 after a COVID-enforced break in 2020.
The annual tournament will be played on the weekend of 9th and 10th October with an attractive prize pool up for grabs across all divisions.
The stage will once again be set at TRL Stadium in Marrara with senior men and women’s divisions plus under 18 boys and girls.
CEO of NT Rugby Shane Sullivan said: ‘’We’re excited to be able to hold this international event again after having to cancel the 2020 tournament due to COVID and travel restrictions.
‘’We have had an increasing amount of interest and excitement building over the confirmation of the tournament date.
“Teams from all over Australia have been in contact and we are hopeful of some international participation if a New Zealand bubble can be maintained”, said Sullivan.
During the 33-year history of the event, hundreds of teams have travelled from down the track, interstate and overseas to compete for the lucrative prize money and claiming the title of the Croc Winner!
‘’As with the proposed 2020 event, things will look a little different with a lineup of mostly of Australian-based teams however we are confident this will make the matches more entertaining for the spectators,’’ said Sullivan.
NT Rugby is proud to have the support of a long list of partners including the Northern Territory Government and Lion.
After the cancellation of the 2020 event, we again welcome AON on board as a new sponsor for the women’s division.
Teams are invited to register their interest at nt.rugby/hottest-7s
